The Mystae is Nick Whitby’s coming-of-age drama set one summer night in a Cornish cave.

Ina, Holman and Tre are best friends about to leave Cornwall and head off to university. Eager to enjoy one final night together before everything changes, and inspired by Ina’s Greek heritage, they head to a sea cave late at night. There, they perform an ancient ritual, The Eleusinian Mysteries, hoping to cement their childhood friendship. But with the waves rising betrayals emerge and it begins to look like the cave may hold abhorrently dark secrets.

Playwright Whitby previously had The Complaint staged at the Hampstead Theatre Downstairs in 2012. His other credits include TV sitcom Smack The Pony and docudrama Last Flight To Kuwait.
