Following the success of its global tour, Sutra, one of Sadler’s Wells’ most popular productions, returns to the venue to mark its fifth anniversary.

The production, which has been seen by more than 160,000 people worldwide in 55 cities across 27 countries, is a collaboration between choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Turner Prize-winning sculptor Antony Gormley and 17 Buddhist monks from the Shaolin Temple in China.

A breath-taking spectacle of athleticism, Sutra explores the philosophy and faith behind the Shaolin tradition and its relationship with kung fu within a contemporary context.

Featuring sculptor Antony Gormley’s striking wooden box set and a specially commissioned score by Polish composer Szymon Brzóska’s, Sutra is an incomparable work that has captured the hearts and imaginations of people all over the world.
