Verdi’s lost opera, reclaimed and revived in 1993, returns to the Royal Opera House.

Stiffelio is a Protestant pastor whose wife is having an affair. At first ignorant, as he grows suspicious and discovers the truth he is caught between his religious conviction and his human instinct.

Elijah Moshinsky’s production sets the action in a small 19th century American religious community.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
