Southwark FairPatrick makes a horrible error when he calls one lover while thinking of another. His wife, who discovers this fact, follows the discarded date through a South Bank throng, where all manner of interesting characters – a Bird Whistler flogging his goods, a trainee barista on the verge of marriage, a Deputy Major-stalking actress – are going about their business.

Samuel Adamson adapted Ibsen’s Pillars Of The Community for the National. His other plays include Clocks And Whistles, Drink, Dance, Laugh And Lie and Grace Note.

Margaret Tyzack, who leads the cast, has been seen at the National in His Girl Friday, Tartuffe and Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?. Her other West End credits include Lettice And Lovage and As You Desire Me.
