British born Seeta Patel is one of the most exciting talents in the British Asian dance scene. A former student of Mavin Khoo and, among others, his guru the world-renowned Padmashri Adyar K. Lakshman, she has already made an impression with UK audiences creating roles with companies including Mavin Khoo Dance. Now she makes her much anticipated debut as a classical soloist within the tradition of bharata-na-ty. am – one of India’s oldest and now most popular dance forms.

Shringara: A Journey Of Desire is classical bharata-na-ty. am danced to live music conducted by Mavin Khoo with vocals performed by the inspirational Pushkala Gopal, a leading figure in Karnatak music. Through four fragments that explore the complex nuances of desire, Patel explores the fantasy of the ‘sacred female’ while also – through the use of 18th century music – questioning our perception of time.
