One of the most exciting young talents in British music, composer Luke Bedford brings his new opera Seven Angels to the Linbury Studio.

Seven Angels, with a libretto by Glyn Maxwell and designs by Japanese visual artist Tadasu Takamine, takes its inspiration from Milton’s masterpiece Paradise Lost. It was Milton who also inspired Maxwell’s previous collaboration with Bedford on the mysterious and magical Good Dream She Has. But there is a contemporary perspective here, as the urgent challenges of changing climate and depleting resources are wound into the drama.

When seven angels fall to rest on a desert landscape, they imagine the creation of a legendary garden that once flourished there and its destruction from greed and neglect.
