Nederlands Dans Theater 1 returns to Sadler’s Wells for the first time since 2009 with two works never before seen in the UK.
The first piece, Sehnsucht, relates to the German word meaning ‘longing’. Created by Spanish-British duo Sol León and Paul Lightfoot, it explores the binding, transformative power of love.
The second, Schmetterling, is derived from the word meaning ‘butterfly’ and suggests the transitional nature of existence and the continuous crossing of paths between life and death. Also choreographed by Lightfoot and León, it features duets and trios that echo all types of possible love stories.
Nederlands Dans Theater 1 is a company renowned for combining virtuoso classical technique with intriguing visual sets and themes.
