The theatrically playful new play by Sam Holcroft, starring Stephen Mangan and Miles Jupp, follows a family sticking rigidly to their Rules For Living.

Tensions are high when the extended family comes together for Christmas. But when everyone follows their coping strategies unwaveringly – and when those strategies are clear for all to see, including the audience – accusations fly, relationships fall apart and the rules take over.

Jupp, who is best known as a comedian, has most recently been seen in the West End production of Neville’s Island, and previously worked at the National Theatre in People. On television his credits include acclaimed sitcoms Rev and The Thick Of It. Green Wing star Mangan’s recent theatre credits include Jeeves And Wooster In Perfect Nonsense in the West End and Birthday at the Royal Court Theatre.

Marianne Elliott, who directs, is the director of hit National Theatre productions including The Light Princess, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, Saint Joan and War Horse.
