News of this reaches the gods, where the devious Loge (Philip Langridge) persuades Wotan (Bryn Terfel in his role debut) to steal it from Alberich (G√ľnter von Kannen) and pacify the giants Fasolt (Franz-Josef Selig) and Fafner (Philip Ens) who have built Valhalla for them. The new Royal Opera Ring, the first in the new House, presents the directorial vision of Keith Warner against the large-scale, lavish sets of Stefanos Lazaridis and the costumes of Marie-Jeanne Lecca.
