PUSH 04 features opera, ballet and dance from some of the world’s leading black artists. The Sadler’s part of the season features Awakening, a new ballet by Ben Love, and Another America: Fire -a sizzling new opera.

Awakening charts one man’s quest to find a reason to live. After losing three wives, Adom embarks on a heroic journey from his village to the brink of the cosmos. Awakening transcends from melancholy to joy, with music composed by Paul Gladstone Reid.

Another America: Fire transports you to Houston, 2014, where the first black American female astronaut is about to fly to Mars. This new opera, composed by Errollyn Wallen and directed by Indhu Rubasingham, brims with inventiveness, passion and humour, shot through with technical visual wizardry.

The PUSH 04 season also features a new play Two Step at the Almeida Theatre.
