Contemporaries of Shakespeare and Jonson, Fletcher and Beaumont came from more salubrious backgrounds than their more widely known contemporaries. According to the venerated John Dryden, Fletcher And Beaumont were “their plots were generally more regular than Shakespeare’s … and they understood and imitated the conversations of Gentlemen much better”.
