People is the world premiere of The History Boys playwright Alan Bennett’s latest play, starring Frances De La Tour.
People spoil things; there are so many of them and the last thing one wants is them traipsing through one’s house. But with the park a jungle and a bath on the billiard table, what is one to do? Dorothy wonders if an attic sale could be a solution.
People is the third time that De La Tour has starred in the premiere of a new Bennett play at the National Theatre, following The Habit Of Art and The History Boys. The Olivier Award winning actress boasts credits including Les Parents Terribles, Brighton Beach Memoirs (both National Theatre), Antony And Cleopatra, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It (all RSC), Duet For One, When She Danced and A Moon For The Misbegotten (all West End), but may still be best known for playing Miss Jones in sitcom Rising Damp.
She is joined in the cast by Linda Bassett (Grandma’s House, Larkrise To Candleford), Selina Cadell (Upstairs Downstairs, Doc Martin) and Miles Jupp (Rev, The Thick Of it).
