Simon Rattle conducts a new production of Debussy’s tragic opera.

The beautiful, mysterious Mélisande marries Golaud, but falls in love with his half brother Pelléas. King Arkel senses that the destiny of his grandson’s wife is not a happy one, but is powerless to stand in its way.

Stanilas Nordey directs a 21st century production that uses colour and light to delve into the workings of the heart.

Performed in French with English surtitles.
