The Theatre Local project transfers to the Royal Court following a successful run at Peckham’s Bussey Building.

Created by the writers behind the venue’s Open Court programme, who include Bola Agbaje and Rachel De-lahay, Peckham: The Soap Opera sees the lives and loves of the London district’s locals played out in an omnibus of 10 five minute episodes.

Performed by actors from the local community, the show tells the stories of Ravi, who, after an immigration raid, persuades his friend Lashanna to relocate her business to Amir’s basement, Ed, who’s searching for a job, Glenda, Elaine and Joey, who make a discovery that could lead to a morning commute to Lewisham, and Linda, who loses her cat.

A short, sharp and heartfelt series, Peckham: The Soap Opera features episodes by Chimerica playwright Lucy Kirkwood and Lift Off’s Roy Williams as well as Brad Birch, Alice Birch, Adam Brace, Robin French, Chloe Moss and David Watson.
