Script-in-hand performance of Denis Kelly’s play Osama The Hero, which explores the culture of violence and blame in post-9/11 society.

Gary is not stupid. He just dares to see the world differently. After choosing Osama bin Laden as his “contemporary hero” in a class presentation, an act of violence unsettles those around him and Gary must take the blame.

Set in a post-9/11 climate of fear and mistrust, Osama The Hero takes an explosive look at a culture of violence and blame that takes root when one schoolboy sees another point of view.

Osama The Hero premiered at Hampstead theatre in 2005. Dennis Kelly’s other plays include Debris, After The End, Love And Money and Taking Care Of Baby which premiered at Hampstead in 2007.
