One Night In Miami… is a fictional account of a real night at the pinnacle of the American Civil Rights movement, 1964, from which four men emerged ready to define a new world.

It’s 25 February, and 22-year-old Cassius Clay, later to be better known as Muhammad Ali, has just claimed the world heavyweight boxing title. But he isn’t hitting the town to celebrate – he’s meeting in a Miami hotel room with three close friends, namely Malcolm X, singer Sam Cooke, and American football star Jim Brown.

To the outside world they were American icons, but in that room, they were men who recognised their moment in history like no one else could.

Kwame Kwei-Armah returns to the UK to direct Kemp Powers’ fictional account of a real night at the heart of a history of a nation.
