Following her sell-out run of Not I, Lisa Dwan returns to the Royal Court with the enticing Beckett trilogy Not I, Footfalls, Rockaby.

Intense monologue Not I is set in total darkness through which a single ray of light shines on a disembodied female mouth hovering above the stage. The stream of consciousness that flows from the floating mouth is spoken at the speed of thought.  Dwan was tutored in the role by Billie Whitelaw, who was herself coached, for the original production, by Beckett.

Rockaby features a prematurely old woman sat in a chair that appears to be rocking by itself. First performed by Whitelaw in 1980, it delves into ideas of loneliness.

Footfalls, also first performed by Whitelaw, features May, who marches back and forth along a bare landing outside the room in which her mother is dying.
