Closing 14/04/2013
Running Time 40min

Jamal needs to cook a meal for his Grandmother. Is there anyone who can help? As night falls and the moon shines, the air is filled with magic. Join Jamal and his friend, a street dancing life-size monkey, as they summon the Genie of the Saucepan and travel the world to conjure a meal of imaginative splendour.

Framed within an evocative and enchanting live music score, this new play by award-winning writer Tanika Gupta features a singing moon and a kitchen full of unexpected magic.

After the performance Jamal invites the children to play on the stage and share the fruit that he has gathered on his journey.

A touching play about the relationships between children and their grandparents illustrated through the boundless power of a child’s imagination.

In the Southbank Centre Foyer Spaces.
