Following its sell-out runs at the Lyric Hammersmith and the Royal Exchange theatre in Manchester last year, Mogadishu returns to the Lyric Hammersmith for one week only.

Set in an inner-London secondary school, Mogadishu tells the story of a white teacher who, after being pushed to the ground by black student Jason, is reluctant to report him as she fears what will happen to the troubled student. In order to protect themselves, Jason and his friends make up their own story, which results in the teacher being accused of racial assault. As the play progresses the truth struggles to surface, causing careers, relationships and lives to come under threat.

Written by Vivienne Franzmann, Mogadishu has won the George Devine Award and Bruntwood Playwriting Competition as well as being nominated for Best New Play at the Theatre Awards UK and Most Promising Playwright at the Evening Standard Awards 2011.
