Stephen Wight reprises his role as the eponymous fashion designer in James Phillips’ haunting voyage into Alexander McQueen’s visionary imagination as it transfers to the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
From the playwright behind The Rubenstein Kiss, McQueen tells the story of Dahlia, a mysterious girl who hides in a tree outside McQueen’s Mayfair home for 11 nights, secretly watching him as he struggles to find inspiration for his new collection.
On the final night she climbs down and breaks into his house to steal one of his magnificent creations. He catches her, but instead of calling the police, they embark on a journey through the streets of London and into the whirlwind of his life.
McQueen premiered at the St James Theatre in May 2015 with Glee’s Dianna Agron in the role of Dahlia.
Wight is joined in the cast of the West End transfer by Carly Bawden (Assassins, Menier Chocolate Factory), who takes over Agron’s role, original cast members Tracy-Ann Oberman and Laura Rees, and Michael Bertenshaw (Anne Boleyn, Shakespeare’s Globe).
