Set in a timeless and mythical land, The Magic Flute has at its heart the meeting of Tamino and Pamina. It is love at first sight but it isn’t going to be easy. They have to defeat the Queen of the Night and prove to the mighty Sarastro that they are worthy to become members of the fellowship of the wise. The lovers are helped by Papageno – a madcap, lovelorn bird-catcher – some genies and a magic flute. Ultimately, Tamino and Pamina’s succeed. Papageno finds his own love but has to convince Papagena that he will be true to her before she agrees that they can live happily ever after.
