Ashton’s evocative response to Ravel’s haunting La Valse is a classic dance in an elegant ballroom setting.

Kim Brandstrup’s contemporary new work evokes an intense relationship tinged with the shadow of Louis XIV and Versailles.

MacMillan’s Winter Dreams portrays the psychological passions, ambitions and sorrows of the characters in Chekhov’s Three Sisters, set to music by Tchaikovsky.

Tchaikovsky’s music also features in the final piece, Balanchine’s technical tour de force, Theme And Variations.
