The world of movies helps two prisoners – one a young Marxist rebel being punished for his ideals, the other a romantic fantasist imprisoned for his sexuality – build an unexpected friendship that offers both a way to survive.

Playwright Manuel Puig lived in exile from his homeland of Argentina for most of his life. Kiss Of The Spiderwoman is his most famous work, and has also been made into a film and a musical.
