Warrior Jepthta makes a pact with God; if he is returned home from war victorious, he will sacrifice the first person he sees. On his triumphant return, the first person to stumble into his eye line is his daughter Iphis, leaving Jepthta with a desperate decision to make.

The award-winning Katie Mitchell, who recently directed Dream Play at the National, directs Mark Padmore in the title role. Nicholas Kraemer conducts personal, political and theological drama.
