In The Penal Colony is a dramatic retelling of one of Kafka’s most terrifying fables of violence, alienation and injustice.

Deep in the dungeons, a man, unaware of his crime, is about to be strapped into an elaborate execution device. The Executioner shows no mercy, but will The Visitor intervene?

In The Penal Colony marks the Young Vic return of director Amir Nizar Zuabi and his groundbreaking Palestinian company ShiberHur, which staged I Am Yusuf And This Is My Brother at the venue in 2010. The show makes its London debut direct from a tour of Palestine.

In The Penal Colony is performed in Arabic with English surtitles.
