Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari’s rarely performed blood-and-thunder melodrama presents a highly-spiced stew of sacrilege, jealousy and passion under the Neapolitan sun. First performed in 1911 and based on news accounts of real life events, its controversial themes still resonate with audiences today.

Martin Lloyd-Evans, OHP’s go-to director for post-verismo operas, joins forces with conductor Peter Robinson and stunning young soprano Natalya Romaniw for this great rarity, a definite highlight in the British summer opera calendar.
