Part-gig, part-juke box, part theatre, Cartoon De Salvo improvises an entirely new adventure every night.

The audience chooses from a playlist of songs inspired by the jug band music of the American South, then the Salvo’s spin a yarn using only these tunes, imagination and the thin air. Will you get thriller or comedy, western or film noir? Using specific long-form impro techniques popular in America and Europe but rarely practised in the UK, every performance of Cartoon de Salvo’s show is totally unique.

Cartoon De Salvo’s cocktail of storytelling, script-defying impro and live music has captivated audiences for a decade, everywhere from village halls to main stages, Glastonbury to Hong Kong. In their quest to mess with the live theatre experience, they grew their own stage for 2005’s outdoor allotment-set epic The Sunflower Plot, transformed a washing line into wartime Britain with Meat & Two Veg, and thrilled family audiences with their bold retelling of The Ratcatcher Of Hamelin.
