Brazil’s most successful contemporary dance ensemble returns to Sadler’s Wells with a double bill of O Corpo and Lecuona. The 19-strong company blend classical ballet with hot Latin beats and the rhythmic complexity of African dance to their own distinctive brand of Afro-Brazilian modern dance.

O Corpo, one of the company’s best known pieces, receives its UK premiere. Set to a rhythmic, art-pop score, O Corpo sees the dancers, in punky black costumes, perform gymnastic choreography against a backdrop of flashing red lights

Lecuona, by contrast, is a romantic affair performed to the music of ‘the Cuban Gershwin’, Ernesto Lecuona; 12 love songs and a waltz. The piece blends vibrant colours, flowing fabrics and high heels with a touch of the ballroom.
