The world premiere of Mike Leigh’s new play, Grief.

In his unique collaborative way, Leigh is working with a company of actors, together with his regular award-winning creative team, to explore characters, relationships, themes and ideas to create a new production for the National Theatre.

The award-winning playwright and director’s many stage plays include Ecstasy, Abigail’s Party, It’s A Great Big Shame!, and Babies Grow Old.

Leigh is reunited on Grief with Lesley Manville – his most frequent collaborator – and with regulars Marion Bailey, Sam Kelly and Wendy Nottingham. Leigh worked with them variously on films including Who’s Who, Grown-Ups, Meantime, Secrets & Lies, Topsy-Turvy, Vera Drake and Another Year.

BAFTA-winning actress Manville was most recently seen at the National Theatre in Her Naked Skin. Manville’s other theatre credits include Six Degrees Of Separation, All About My Mother and His Dark Materials.
