Now, the novel is adapted for the stage by children’s playwright David Wood, known for his adaptations of Roald Dahl stories.

Set in the build-up to World War Two, Goodnight Mister Tom follows sad young William Beech, who is evacuated to the countryside and builds a remarkable friendship with the elderly recluse Tom Oakley. All seems perfect until William is devastatingly summoned by his mother back to London.
