The Globe’s international season of Shakespeare’s plays opens with the group who have travelled the furthest. Rawiri Paratene (star of Whale Rider) has assembled New Zealand’s best Maori actors for a production of Troilus And Cressida performed in Maori.

In an exquisite translation by Te Haumiata Mason, the production will incorporate many aspects of Maori culture; the haka (warrior dance) and waiata (song), especially created by the best composers and choreographers of Aotearoa. Ti hei mauriora!

Globe To Globe sees every one of Shakespeare’s 37 plays performed in a different language by an international company. The result is a once in a life time, six week celebration of the incredible breadth of communities and languages that make up London’s vibrant cultural landscape.
