This production of Hamlet opens at Shakespeare’s Globe on the 450th anniversary of the Bard’s birth before embarking on a two-year tour of the world.

Over the course of the project, the company will travel to hundreds of venues across the seven continents by boat, sleeper train, jeep, tall ship, bus and aeroplane.

Encompassing political intrigue, sexual obsession, philosophical reflection and violent action, Hamlet tells the story of the title character, who, following his father’s death, comes home to find his uncle married to his mother and installed on the Danish throne. Then, at night, the ghost of the former king orders Hamlet to avenge his ‘foul and most unnatural murder’.
