1975 India, and while the government declares a State of Emergency, Parsi widow Dina Dalal opens her flat to a student border and two Hindu tailors. While the rest of the city is consumed by the chaos created by the government’s policies on slum clearances and birth control, the four strangers develop an unexpected friendship, crossing boundaries created by caste, class and religion.
Creator of the hugely popular Strictly Dandia and the original East Is East, Tamasha utilise visual imagery and evocative sound to bring this story, based on the Booker shortlisted novel by Rohinton Mistry, to the stage.
