Nottara Theatre, Bucharest, brings Festen, the tale of an eventful familial celebration, to the stage.

In Festen, the Klingenfeld-Hansen family is gathering to celebrate a patriarch’s 60th birthday. But festivities around the banquet table are interrupted as a startling secret, left to fester over years, is exposed.

Haunted by the past and mired in hypocrisy, watch how they react to this unpalatable revelation, one that threatens to unravel them all.

Based on the first, multi-award-winning Danish film that emerged from the Dogma 95 movement, this movingly realised stage version blends nuanced performances from its Bucharest ensemble, urging audiences to reflect on the lasting consequences of turning away from the truth.

Festen is performed in Romanian with English surtitles.

Festen contains strong language and is suitable for theatregoers aged 16 and older.
