Gounod’s epic tale of hellish greed, Faust puts the grand in grand opera.

In the Royal Opera’s vivid, large-scale staging Faust is a truly theatrical battle of good and evil, spiced with fated romance.

David McVicar’s indulgent interpretation brings to life what was once the most famous and most performed opera of all, in which Faust sells his soul to the demon Méphistophélès in exchange for youth, and then is tempted by the innocent beauty of Marguerite.

With Angela Gheorghiu and Vittorio Grigolo among the performers, this star-cast revival has huge forces on stage in a fantastic production with lavish designs.

Complete with the Act IV ballet taking a bravura twist, and Evelino Pidò conducting the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and the large forces of the Royal Opera Chorus, this revival of Faust brings together everything that made this 19th century opera a worldwide phenomenon.

Faust is sung in French with English surtitles.
