The world is coming to an end. Beckett’s 1957 modernist classic finds the blind, bullying Hamm and his shambling, idiotic servant Clov trapped in a strange room. With Nagg and Nell – Hamm’s parents who live in a pair of dustbins – the Servant and his Master pass the time toying with the hopelessness of the situation all along sensing the inevitability of their end.

Samuel Beckett’s absurd existential drama is revived with an all-star cast including Sir Michael Gambon as the irascible Hamm and the en vogue Lee Evans as his shambolic servant Clov. Hamm’s dustbin-clad parents are played by Liz Smith and Geoffrey Hutchings. Matthew Warchus directs.
