Carlos Acosta’s exuberant take on this classic tale of friendship, love and loyalty is bursting with joie de vivre.

Based on Miguel De Cervantes’s classic novel, Don Quixote follows the romantic old knight of its title as he invents stories to fulfil his need for chivalrous adventures. On his quest to save his (fictional) sweetheart he encounters Kitri and Basilio, two young lovers being kept apart by Kitri’s father who has his eye on another suitor for his daughter. Don Quixote makes it his mission to rescue them.

Featuring a score by Ludwig Minkus that is brimming with Spanish flair and atmosphere, the adventures of the bumbling knight and his ever-faithful squire Sancho Panza have provided the inspiration for countless ballets.

Olivier Award winner Acosta has danced the virtuoso role of Basilio a number of times and brings that experience to his vibrant vision of the story.
