Nina Raine’s blistering new play Consent makes a triumphant and timely transfer to the Harold Pinter Theatre, following a sold out season at the National Theatre.

Why is Justice blind? Is she impartial? Or is she blinkered? Friends take opposing briefs in a contentious legal case. The key witness is a woman whose life seems a world away from theirs. At home, their own lives begin to unravel as every version of the truth is challenged.

Directed by Roger Michell, this tense, entertaining modern-day tragi-comedy takes a searing look at the law whilst putting modern relationships into the dock.

The West End transfer of Consent stars Claudie Blakley (Once In A Lifetime, Young Vic; Chimerica, Almeida/West End), Stephen Campbell Moore (The History Boys, West End/Broadway/Film), Heather Craney and Adam James (both in the original cast of the show), along with Clare Foster (Travesties, West End), Lee Ingleby (The Pillowman, National) and Sian Clifford (Gloria, Hampstead).

Playwright Nina Raine’s previous acclaimed works include the Olivier Award-nominated play Tribes, and plays including Tiger Country and Rabbit. Her new play Consent was originally co-produced and commissioned by Out of Joint, and begins previews in the West End from 18 May for a strictly limited 12-week run.

By turns powerful, painful and funny, Consent sifts evidence from every side to explore themes of justice, consent, marriage and modern parenthood – themes which resound strikingly today. Don’t miss it.
