Trevor Griffiths’s 1970s classic Comedians is revived at the Lyric Hammersmith.

Comedians follows six budding comics as they embark on the most important evening of their lives. Failure or success? What will be the price of each?

The cast of Comedians is led by former Stars In Their Eyes host Matthew Kelly, who won a Laurence Olivier Award for his performance in Of Mice And Men in 2004. His more recent credits include Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? and Victory.

Kelly’s Comedians co-star Mark Benton is best known for his television work, which includes Northern Lights, The Street and Murphy’s Law.

Comedians is the second Griffths play to be staged in London in 2009, following the playwright’s newest work A New World – A Life Of Thomas Paine at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Comedians is the first production to be directed by Sean Holmes at the Lyric Hammersmith since he took up the position as the venue’s Artistic Director.

Comedians is suitable for theatregoers aged 14 and older.
