Gareth Gates, Joanna Page and Alistair McGowan lead the cast of the New Wimbledon theatre’s festive pantomime, Cinderella.

Cinderella is the story of a young woman living with her stepmother, and two very mean stepsisters. She works as a servant for them cooking, cleaning and catering to their every need.

When the Prince of the land sends out invitations to all of the villagers to attend a ball held in his honour, Cinderella begs to go but her stepmother will not allow her.

The night of the ball arrives and the three women laugh as they prepare for the party, and make their way to the festivities, leaving Cinders to clean up after them. When they are gone, Cinderella quietly weeps wishing she could attend. At that moment her Fairy Godmother appears and uses her magic to grant Cinderella’s wish, creating for her a beautiful gown, matching glass slippers, and turning a pumpkin into a carriage to take her to the ball. The Fairy Godmother only has one condition; that the spell will only last until midnight…

Gates is best known as a pop star, and for his exploits on reality television, coming a close second to Will Young on singing search Pop Idol and showing his grace and agility in Dancing On Ice. He made his West End debut earlier this year in gala concert A Spoonful Of Stiles And Drewe at the Her Majesty’s theatre.

Page is the star of award-winning hit comedy Gavin And Stacey who also appeared in Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig, which opened at the Trafalgar Studio 1 before transferring to the Comedy theatre.

McGowan became known to the nation as a leading impressionist, starring in his own show Big Impression. More recently he has built a reputation as a musical theatre performer, starring in Merry Wives – The Musical, Little Shop Of Horrors and Cabaret.
