When a boy is abandoned during war, he is taken in by a servant girl. But when the fighting has stopped his biological mother wants him back. The judge presiding over the case chooses to use an ancient tradition to settle the dispute: the chalk circle.

Brecht’s morality play is staged by the National Theatre in collaboration with Filter, a company renowned for blending music, movement and video imagery.
