Originally written as a response to a newspaper article about a murder in rural Spain, Blood Wedding is s story of love, lust and betrayal. While a husband-to-be waits for his Andalucian bride at the altar, she elopes with her childhood sweetheart. As the passions of both lover and jilted fiancé run high, the plot moves towards a dramatic conclusion.

 

Rufus Norris, who directed Festen at the Almeida before transferring to the Lyric, returns to direct Blood Wedding.

Gael Garcia Bernal has appeared in Hollywood hits Y Tu Mama Tambien and The Motorcycle Diaries.
