Genre Opera/Dance
First Performance 26/10/2004
Closing 30/10/2004

The Birmingham Royal Ballet’s first programme (performed on Tuesday Oct 26, Weds Oct 27) will feature Frederick Ashton’s charming The Two Pigeons – a ballet about the trials of young love – and Balanchine’s Western Symphony which brings the Wild West to life with its cowboys and dance-hall girls.

The second programme (Thurs Oct 28 and Fri Oct 30) will feature Such Sweet Thunder – David Bintley’s three part dance tribute to his hero Duke Ellington. This will be followed by a witty one-act Nutcracker and The Orpheus Suite, which tells the story of the original music man through Jazz. And finally, The Shakespeare Suite captures the essence of some of Shakespeare’s wittiest, most heart-rending and purely evil characters.
