Neil Armfield directs the London premiere of this WNO/Opera Australia production of Britten’s masterpiece.

From the moment Billy Budd joins the Indomitable, the boat of Captain Vere sailing in the French wars of 1797, he is mistrusted by the evil Claggart, who does all he can to bring about his downfall…

Andrew Litton conducts a glittering cast including Simon Keenlyside, in the title role, John Tomlinson and Timothy Robinson, making his role debut as Captain Vere.
