Bat Boy: The Musical, the Off Broadway smash, flies in to Southwark Playhouse, plunging its fangs into all that has gone before it.

Inspired by a story run by The Weekly World News, an American tabloid who published fabricated stories which were purported to be factual, Bat Boy: The Musical tells the story of the discovery of a creature who is ‘half human and half bat’.

The cult musical won New York’s Outer Critics Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards for Best Off-Broadway Musical in 2001. It received its UK premiere in 2004 at West Yorkshire Playhouse prior to a West End run at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
