1946 Liverpool, a city ravaged by the war. A year after their father’s death, three sisters – Gertie, May and Rita Lasky – share their once grand home on Hope Street with their asthmatic brother, Auntie Beil and family friend Dr Weinberg. The sisters, who regularly receive visitors from the nearby American base, search for meaning in a rapidly changing world.
