The new Artistic Director of Hampstead theatre, Edward Hall, will kick off his first season at the venue with a visit from his own theatre company, Propeller, which presents a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream for young audiences.

Pocket Dream, which plays from 21 to 24 September, is a 60-minute version of Shakespeare’s magical comedy, performed by Propeller’s all-male ensemble.

Designed to provide a contemporary and physical introduction to Shakespeare for young people, Pocket Dream encourages audiences to get involved with the show and includes a talkback session after the performance.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most popular and most performed plays. Magic, romantic comedy and mystery feature in this story of four runaway lovers who encounter mischievous fairies and a troupe of actors in the forest.

Pocket Dream begins an exciting season at Hampstead theatre which includes visits from playwright-directors Athol Fugard and Mike Leigh and premieres of work by Nina Raine and Melly Still.
