Your week in musical theatre

Tomorrow (13 October) is the first ever #NationalAlbumDay! To celebrate, we’ve used some brilliant musical cast albums to build your week in music. From the dreaded Monday to hump day Wednesday, right through to the Sunday reset. Here’s your week in musical theatre.

Monday = 9 To 5

Working 9 To 5, what a way to make a living. And what a way to sum up a Monday. Memories of the weekend are far in the past. Your desk is calling you and your boss is calling louder. Oh well. C’est la vie. Or is it? A day fantasising about all the things you wish you could do in the office to make your work life better is soooooo Monday. Just don’t accidentally spike any drinks, ya hear!

Get your tickets to 9 To 5 here.

Tuesday = Rent

You have to make rent. So you carry on plodding through the week. But you can’t help but think there are more important things to worry about. More important people to see. More important places to be. Why do you have to pay rent anyway? How is money a way to measure a day? A week? A year?

Wednesday = Les Misérables

The dreaded Wednesday. A truly miserable day. Will anything go right for you? Join in the melodic misery of Les Misérables and rise up against the mid-week slump. You never know, hearing about other people’s troubles might make your day seem better. Just don’t steal any bread…

Thursday = Avenue Q

Life questions and revelations. That’s what Thursdays have for you. What can you do with that degree of yours? Are you accepted for who you truly are? Are you ever going to have enough money? Let those thoughts marinade while you access your whole life… and why it isn’t the weekend already…

Friday = Hairspray

It’s here! The weekend is finally here. And you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. You’re feeling upbeat and nothing can get you down. In fact, you’re going to stand up against the man. You’re going to stand up for what’s right and what’s wrong. You’re going to accept yourself and all those around you because it’s Friday and it’s almost time to PARTY!

Saturday = Chicago

It’s Saturday night and you’re dressed to kill. It’s time for some cocktails, some saucy dancing and some real trouble. Prepare for some razzle dazzle and all that jazz with Chicago.

Get tickets to Chicago here.

Sunday = The Lion King

Sunday. What a mixed bag. You’re up one minute. Then you’re down. You’re content with your loved ones. Then you feel the stampede of stress for the upcoming week. And soon, Monday will roll around and the whole week will start all over again. It’s the circle of life… Feel the calm before the storm with the cast album of The Lion King.
