Elphaba traded in that black witch’s hat for one of the party variety as Wicked celebrated its 12th birthday last night (27 September)!
The West End and Broadway hit musical has been seen by more than 55 million people worldwide, with over 9 million people seeing it in London alone. On top of that, it’s the fifth longest-running musical currently playing in the West End.
Wicked’s Executive Producer, Michael McCabe, said: “We are thrilled to be celebrating 12 remarkable years at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Wicked is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire. It reimagines L. Frank Baum’s magical The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, taking a step back in time to explore how the Wicked Witch Of The West and Glinda The Good came to be.
