Wicked holds London under its spell

Published 11 February 2013

The wizard and witches of the magical land of Oz will continue to enchant London’s theatregoers for at least another year, as hit musical Wicked has extended its booking period to 26 April 2014.

The Olivier Award-winning production, which is now in its seventh spectacular year at the Apollo Victoria, has already been seen by almost five million theatregoers since it opened in London in 2006 and is already the 16th longest running West End musical of all time.

Starring leading musical theatre star Louise Dearman as green-skinned witch Elphaba, the musical phenomenon tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, introducing two girls who meet as sorcery students and following them as they grow into the misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West and the ever-popular Glinda The Good.

Dearman, who is the first actress to play both Glinda and Elphaba, is joined in the current cast by Gina Beck as Glinda, Ben Freeman as Fiyero and Louise Plowright as Madame Morrible.
